I've taken to washing the fruit and veggies in a vinegar rinse as I do the shopping. It seems to keep things fresher and I'm not worried about children forgetting to wash the fruit before they eat it.
On a school holiday note, the three year old accompanied me to work for a while. It wasn't as good as a playground.
